Mandelic Peel is a gentle chemical peel made from mandelic acid. Mandelic acid is an alpha-hydroxy acid and breaks and removes protein bridges between horny cells.
Mandelic Acid is an acid made up of larger molecules than other alpha hydroxy acids used in chemical peels. This makes the peeling penetrate more slowly and at a lower depth. Mandelic acid has the property that it achieves a gentle, progressive exfoliation due to the large molecules. This makes the peeling very suitable for sensitive and dark skin types. Mandelic acid also has an antibacterial and sebum-regulating effect on the skin, making it a suitable mild peeling for (inflammatory) acne.
